Guide to soup pots

Characteristics

Characteristics of a good soup pot

The Right Material

For especially high-quality, durable Cookware the choice of material is crucial. Fissler mainly uses the following in the production of pots:

  • 18/10 Stainless Steel (for the body, handles, and Lid) and 18/0 stainless steel (for induction-compatible bases)
  • as well as aluminum (for the disc in the pot base)

Almost all Fissler Cooking Pots are made in Germany. This also applies to stock pots.

Stock pots made of stainless steel are hygienic, dimensionally stable, and resistant to heat, alkalis, acids, and corrosion. Stainless steel is also considered food-safe and is easy to clean.

The Right Shape

To prevent soup from boiling over or splashing while cooking, stock pots should have high sides. Depending on the diameter and height, the pot’s capacity varies, so it can hold different portion sizes.

That is why some Cooking Pots from Fissler are designed with especially high sides. Depending on the diameter, there is room for more or less soup.

Cool-Touch Handles

A full stainless steel stock pot in particular is relatively heavy. For greater safety and comfortable carrying, stock pots should have sturdy handles that do not absorb the pot’s heat too quickly.
Fissler stock pots feature Stay-Cool metal handles (Original-Profi Collection®) or stainless steel handles (Fissler Pure Collection):

  • Stay-Cool metal handles maintain a comfortable handle temperature (<50 °C) for an exceptionally long time on a standard household stove. They are solidly made and also have a heat-insulating transition between the pot body and the handle plate.
  • Stainless steel handles have poor heat-conducting properties, which benefits you while cooking. The more solid the construction, the greater the positive effect on handle temperature.

Tightly Closing Lid

A solid, tightly closing Lid enables energy-efficient cooking. Because the condensation heat generated can escape only minimally with a tightly closing Lid, boiling point is reached much faster. This not only saves you time, but also lets you cook your soups in a particularly energy-saving way.

Fissler stock pots come with a Metal Lid (Original-Profi Collection®) or tempered glass Lid (Viseo®):

  • Metal Lids are made of robust 18/10 Stainless Steel. They are easy to clean and can be used in the oven up to 230 °C.
  • Lids made of tempered glass are impact-resistant and insensitive to gradual thermal changes up to 180 °C. Thanks to the high-quality stainless steel rim with integrated silicone seal, water ingress or stress in the glass during heating is prevented. The pot lid closes perfectly and allows convenient visual cooking without loss of aroma or energy.

Induction-Compatible Base

To make sure the stock pot can also be used on an induction stove, it is important that it has a base suitable for it.

  • The exclusive Fissler CookStar® base (Original-Profi Collection®) is suitable for all stovetops and optimized for induction. It is extra thick and solid, offering optimal heat absorption, distribution, and retention. Thanks to the base’s long heat retention, the energy supply can be reduced before the end of the cooking time. This makes stock pots with a CookStar® base particularly energy-efficient. Another advantage is the integrated star-shaped expansion grooves in the CookStar® base. These grooves ensure exceptional base stability, so the pots always sit flat on the stovetop when heated and the ingredients cook evenly.
  • The Superthermic® base (Fissler Pure Collection) is suitable for all Stovetops including induction. It provides fast heat absorption, distribution, and retention across the entire base surface. This means energy is used very efficiently.

Measuring Scale and Pouring Rim

Fissler stock pots feature practical details:

  • Using the laser-etched measuring scale on the inside of the stock pot, you can measure liquids without needing a measuring cup
  • The extra-wide (Original-Profi Collection®) or wide Pouring Rim (Fissler Pure Collection®) allows easy, precise pouring and transferring of soups – without spills or drips
